Why CrestCast exists
I'm Luke, a chartered accountant with a background in Big 4 audit, private equity, and EPM consulting. For years my job was building financial models for businesses: projecting cash, tracking net worth, stress-testing assumptions. The thinking behind them was never that complicated. Just disciplined, forward-looking, and honest about the numbers.
When I became a father and turned that same lens on my own household finances, I expected the tools to exist. They didn't. What was available were spending trackers, useful for looking back and useless for planning forward. Nothing told you where your net worth was heading, when your debts would clear, or what a pay rise would actually change over ten years. I ended up building it myself in spreadsheets, and eventually realised that nobody should have to.
Businesses take it for granted: a proper P&L, a balance sheet, a cashflow forecast. That same clarity is almost entirely absent from family finances. And in most households, one partner carries all the numbers while the other is kept in the dark. Families make major decisions about mortgages, careers, and children with almost no forward-looking information to guide them.
CrestCast is my attempt to change that. Not another spending tracker but a proper forward-looking model for your household. P&L, net worth trajectory, cashflow, debt analysis: the full picture, built for UK finances, shared between both partners, updated in real time as your life changes.
